Donuts and Coalfest!

As Joan has already said, we have some fundraisers in the works this week. We are selling donuts now for $6/box and will be through the weekend as we go to Brilliant's annual Coalfest, where we will have several booths setup with food as well as items to buy. There are T~shirts with different Christian logos on the front to choose from. Some of these have already sold and are high quality material. The ladies are making hotdogs and taking them to the event so they will be ready to sell once there, along with soft drinks.

There will be arts and crafts setup also, including some handmade items such as hand~quilted baby quilts, pillows, home decor, and surprises. If you are a member of WCFC, please show up to help work the booth~there will be plenty for you to do!

Remember to pray for all who are devoting time and energy in these efforts because the final result is to pay for the land and begin building a place of worship for this church.
God bless you all is our prayer.

Doughnuts! Doughnuts!Doughnuts!

We are selling doughnuts to benefit church property payment. Doughnut boxes are $6.00 each. Contact Sister Bonnie Marchum 412-6520.

Brilliant Coal Fest is this weekend Friday May 27 and Saturday May 28.
We will have a boothe...Look for Rick, Carol, Bonnie and Shirley!!

Look What the Lord Has Done!

Sunday morning announcements began with info about Youth Camp coming up, as well as State Convention. Pastor has posted the paper on the bulletin board in the stairway giving all the dates.

May is the month that our land loan comes due again, and just as it was being discussed that we were almost half way there, a member held up a check, testifying that "The Lord's been good to me this week!" With that offering, we are now halfway to paying off the land in full. Praise the Lord! What a milestone this is.

Bro Smith also said he is believing for a large, HUGE tent for a REVIVAL in August for WCFC when the Beasleys use the church building for their reunion and singing and we have to vacate. What a wonderful vision this is, let's be in prayer for this.

The Special Singing this Sunday morning was by Bro Mike Knight who led us in "I went to the enemy's camp/Look what the Lord has done"! What singing and rejoicing that almost took the top off the roof! This is the kind of singing and shouting we have to look forward to when we see Jesus in Heaven, and it gets our hearts and souls stirred up and ready to serve our Lord. Keep in mind that Bro Mike sells his tapes and CDs for only $10, and would greatly benefit his ministry. It would be a blessing to you to listen to his music. See him to get your CD today, you will enjoy it.

Bro Smith's sermon was from 2 Kings Chapter 5, the story of Naaman~~the great captain, honorable, and a mighty man of valor. He also was a leper. He came to see Elisha on the faith of his maid, but got mad that the prophet would not come out to see him as he thought would be more fitting, but only sent directions on how he would be healed. If it had not been for Naaman's servants' persuasion, perhaps he might have gone back without his healing. Naaman had a problem.

It was a problem that plagues us today.
Pride.
It is hard to even admit when we have a problem with pride. We should not care what others think. David danced before the Lord, which was not exactly action fitting the King of Israel!!

Thankfully, Naaman knew who he was, but he acted on faith and it was released in him. When Elisha did not even come out to greet him, but sent a servant to give him the word to dip in the Jordan River seven times, Naaman got angry. How many of us have come to church and not recieved what we came for, we leave mad? We have to come before the Lord with a humble and contrite heart. Pride shows an ungrateful heart, and that is not acceptable to the Lord.

God help us all to put away those things like pride when we come before a Holy and perfect God.

Precious Adoni

Oh, Precious Adoni,
lover of my soul,
you suffered, bled and died~
to free me was your goal.

At the hands of friends and brothers,
you took my consequence,
betrayed, alone, upon the tree,
accursed for my offense.

It was my hard heart that set the nails,
it was my sin that cut your flesh.
I took your life with my blasphemy,
and you gave me life afresh.

There are no words to thank you, Lord,
you freed me from sin and strife.
The only thing that I can give,
I give my heart, my soul, my life.

This is a poem written by someone after they saw the movie, "The Passion of the Christ" for the first time in a theatre. This motion picture, produced by Mel Gibson, grips the hearts of men and women even today when they see just what the Lord, God's own royal Son, went through for each one of us. He said while He was on the cross, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do". Such love is almost too hard to comprehend, but it is true!

More pictures

Here are a few picures from the Sunday School classes. First is Sister Janice McDaniel pictured with the 1st to 6th grader class. Next, we have Brother Chris Bell the preteen class. Next, Sister Joan Smith with the preschooler class .

Sister Janice McDaniel proudly holds a sign with our Goal to pay off the Land purchased. We only owe 14,000. The loan note is due the last of MAY 2011. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD!

Pictured lastly, we have a few of the decorations for Mother's Day that Brother Smith used for Mother's Day.

MOTHER'S DAY 2011

We had a great mother's Day at Winfield City Family Church with over 19 mothers present . Brother Dewayne presented a beautiful ceremony for the mothers that have passed on, in which each son or daughter lit a candle for their mother in memory of her. The mothers that were present also received a rose. We also had the "Yougest and Oldest mother pictured below, which was Sister Jerrie Scott and her granddaughter Codie.

May God Bless our mothers!

Surgery coming up...

Our dear member Janice McDaniel is scheduled for shoulder surgery Monday May 9. Her only son, Joseph lives and works in Pensacola and that means WE as a church are her family. Let's not let her down. She has been such an asset to WCFC as she pitches in to help whenever she can like all our members do. Janice teaches the 1st to 6th grade Sunday School class.

We are a small congregation and have taken some really hard hits since we have been formed, but we stand strong together depending on the true strength from God. Keep in mind the families who have lost loved ones and all affected by the storms. Our demonination, COGOP, and the body of Christ and so many faces to connect with the numbers of the lost is something to keep in our prayers.

God Bless!

Prayer Requests

Margi Edge told about her nephew, Alan Goodwin's daughter and baby sister who were in a house fire just after the tornados last Wednesday, April 27. They didn't have power and were using candles and I understand that's how the fire started. Mariah Harris and her sister, Lily Duke are both in Children's Hospital in Birmingham now.

The reports that I have received are that while both of these precious girls have a long hard way to go, Lily has 3rd degree burns on 70% of her body. The doctors have started surgeries on the girls so we need to lift this entire family up before the Mercy Seat of the Lord for healing and relief of their pain, and also peace for the family who loves them so much.

Hardees in Hamilton has started selling coupon books for $5.oo with all the proceeds going to help in the expenses. If you know these good folks, please add them to your prayer list and remember all our friends and neighbors who are hurting all around us. The need is so great, but we know Jesus is near to us all and He knows the pain we go through because He bore it all for our healing.
God is good all the time.

Some bad news to share today

We have some sad news to tell about our church family. There have been deaths to announce. One is the husband of Sister Jerri Scott, Drake Scott. You may remember they lost their daughter, Brandi, just this past November on Halloween night. They had just returned from a trip out of town and were going to be back in church this morning. I had a quick note from Jerri on my computer when we got back from helping work up in Hackleburg Saturday from the tornadoes saying she was home and couldn't wait to see everyone in church Sunday morning. Please remember this family who have lost so many members.

Also, my uncle, Banks Weeks, who has been in the nursing home and in bad health for several years died yesterday. He was the only living child in the Weeks family left. My cousin Larry B Weeks was his only son. There is so much grief and so many deaths, we need the Lord's comfort now more than ever. Still, we have to learn to say, "God is good all the time"

God Bless you all!
