Women's Conference Camp Boothe September 20, 2013

What an awesome time Sister Joan and Sister Amanda had at Ladies Retreat! If you haven't been to camp, you are missing out! It is a one night camp especially for ladies age 16 and up. We arrived at 3:30, unpacked, rested for a bit, then went to eat a delicious dinner in the cafeteria at 5:30. The cafeteria was decorated so nice:

Church service was at 7:00. This year's theme was "Safely Home." Worship was led by Sister Stephanie Christmas and the worship team from Cliff Haven Church. Sister Pat Green from Short Creek brought us the message from Mark 11:1-8 and the Holy Spirit showed up in a mighty way! Following the service, we had fun time and snack in the cafeteria were the Christmas sisters blessed us with their humor. Door prizes were also awarded. Then it was back to the cabin for some rest.

The following morning at 7:30, we met in the cafeteria for a full breakfast (yummy!) then broke into our TAP (Talk and Prayer) groups for almost an hour. We headed back to the chapel for worship led by Sister Stephanie Christmas and the worship team from Cliff Haven Church. Sister Donna Howard brought us the word from Luke 1:5-50. Sister Donna shared this song with us that blessed us. Here is a video of the song from YouTube:

After service, we headed back to the cafeteria for lunch before departing for home.

LADIES: Make plans to attend Ladies Retreat next year. Sister Joan and I were so blessed and had such an awesome time worshiping with other women from across the state. We hope to have enough women from our church next year at we can take the church van!

Groundbreaking Ceremony August 18, 2013

We held our groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, August 18, at the tent on our church property. Everyone who pledged $1,000 to our building fund received a golden shovel made by Brother Wesley Hallman. He made 15 shovels and we received pledges for every one! State Overseer Brother L.V. Jones joined us and blessed us with pledging $10,000! Praise God! Anyone interested in making a pledge or a donation to our building fund, please contact Pastor Dewayne Smith at 205-269-8010. God Bless!

Yard Sale Updates

Thanks to everyone who donated items to our church yard sale! We held several yard sales to raise money for our building fund. We had 3 yard sales on our church property under the tent. Our first yard sale was on August 24 and we sold $534.68! WOW! We had so much left over that we decided to have another one the following Saturday on August 31. Since it was Labor Day weekend, we also sold hot dogs. We sold $355 that weekend so we had a total of $889.68. We decided we weren't going to stop until we got $1,000 so we setup again on September 7 and sold $133. After we purchased drinks and hot dogs to sell, we ended up with a total of $1,025! But we didn't stop there! Sister Shirley has had 2 more yard sales with the items and is planning on having another this Friday, October 4th. We also donated some of the items to others in need. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the yard sales whether you donated items, purchased items, donated money, or donated your time to help in any way.
