The Beat Goes On

What a difference singing adds to any church service. We have heard and learned (well, we are learning) some new praise music. Recently, some of the great hymns we have sung are, "Heaven's Jubilee", "I Have Somebody With Me", "Without Him, How Lost I Would Be". "I'll Fly Away". Deb Banta sang "In My New Home". In '94 the Lord gave her that song. It's true if you know the Master, that you've got more to go to Heaven for than what you've got here on this earth. Oh, that we would be ever mindful of that truth!

We are human and get caught up in the day to day routine of this world, and it slips our minds just what God has in store for us when we live close to Him and remember to simply trust the Lord. I grew up with that old Baptist hymn, "Trust and Obey"-for there IS no other way, to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey. How very true that is. Lord, give us wisdom to listen for your voice above the roar of the world's mad rush. Help us keep tuned in to hear you sweetly whisper to your children. We need You now, more than ever before as we face the turmoil and insanity of a world racing headlong, unconcerned and uncaring, toward the final awful judgment of Almighty God. The Lord is longsuffering and unwilling that any should perish, but we can discern the signs of the times and we must realize we are truly living in the last days. Even secular newscasters say the same thing whether they would ever admit it or not. Time is passing swiftly and precious ones are passing into eternity before our very eyes. Jesus, that You would stir us as never before to desire to be used of the Lord, in whatever way He sees fit. And, when He does use you for His Glory, it's important to remain humble, thankful that you are an instrument for the advancement of the Kingdom. There is no place for pride in the Body of Christ.

Pray for each other this week, pray for our Pastor and family and the love and dedication they have for our church. Remember the sick and the ones who cannot attend church. Pray for the workers in our church. Pray for the soon return of Jesus for His children. Pray for growth and blessings in our local assembly, for outreach ministries. Pray for the lost all around us. Pray for our precious America and that God would touch the hearts and minds of our leaders for a revelation of how our nation needs to turn back to the principles upon which it was founded. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray that God would give us hearts of love.

Prayers and Praises to the King

We continue to ask for prayer for Harold Sandlin as he has been in the hospital now for over a month and a half! Way too long-we need to see him home and back on his feet. Keep praying.

Too, Caryl Beard has had a tough time dealing with a kidney stone and had to be admitted to DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa. She is home now and we are believing she will be as good as new soon. We love you and all the family.

My step-daughter sent me an email this week and I just couldn't resist sharing this little poem. Hope you enjoy it, too. Thanks Vanessa!

Mary's Lamb

Mary had a little lamb,
it's fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school each day,
T'wasn't even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let's let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!

Amen and AMEN!!!!!

Sweet Mother's Day @ WCFC

I have to tell you about the special service Bro. Dewayne planned for Mother's Day this past Sunday. Honestly, I have never EVER been in such a touching, sweet event. You really missed a wonderful blessing if you couldn't be there.

Bro. Smith led the Bible reading from Matt 15:21-28. A woman from Canaan came to Jesus to ask for help for her demon-possessed daughter, and He ignored her! Christ answered not a word, and then even the disciples urged Him to send her on her way. She was ignored but not discouraged~she asked and asked and asked again. She had a need only the Master could help. At that time in history, the Gentiles were looked on as "little dogs". Her persistance paid off in the end and she got her miracle. We need to be the same way when we go to the Father with our requests, lay down our pride and come to the Lord with a sincere heart. God is moved by our continued prayers and wants us to not just ask once and then give up. We have to rememeber that He's an on time God. Many of those unspoken prayer requests are for children. We cannot give up on them or on God. It is never His will for any to perish.

After the message, Bro. Smith had everyone whose mother had already passed to come up one at a time and light a candle for her. Then each mom in church recieved a long stemmed rose. Beautiful, just lovely and I don't think there was a dry eye.

Revival Continues.....

We have all heard and read the scripture (Mark 8:36, 37 that talks about the foolishness of selling out to this world system and losing your soul. How could you determine the value of that most prized possession? It is one-of-a-kind, precious, immeasurable, rare gem. On the other hand, this world is shallow and temporal-worthless compared to the vastness of eternity. Many have tried to have it all;
Alexander the Great died at 32
Caesar was assassinated
Napoleon died a lonely man
Hitler commited suicide in an underground bunker
Marilyn Monroe overdosed at a young age
Jean Harlow ended her life in an mental hospital
Valentino died from VD
Al Capone of syphilis
Many more are selling out for far less, addictions, fame, wealth, popularity, and even if a person could gain the whole world, he could never be able to keep it! It is fleeting, here today with not even the promise of tomorrow.

1 John 2:15 warns of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. How cold and empty is a life lived only for fleeting pleasures, when at the end is only fear and dread of the unknown. The truth is all of us need the Master's touch in our lives and until that void is filled by the One who loves us more than we are able to comprehend, we will never find joy. Some say there are many ways to Heaven-Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by me".

Reading the Old Testament, we see that animal sacrifice was a bloody, gory, smelly, nasty business. There is a reason for that: sin is filthy and ugly. We need a Savior. Praise the Lord, He sent the best to save us-His Son. Salvation is a free gift, free but certainly not cheap. It cost Jesus our Redeemer His precious royal blood. Come to Him today for that precious gift.

REVIVAL

Revival at our church-you missed a real blessing if you missed it.

The revival with Bro. John Billy Butler was awesome!! He got it started with this message:
"Get into the Presence of the Lord"

One of the best praise songs ever has to be "Just can't stop praisin' the Lord" and it was great! Bro. Mike sang, "Look for Me Around the Throne"
We were blessed with the attendance of a very special servant of God, L.C. Parker. This man has some physical challenges, but does he ever love the Lord. His ministry is to hand out tracts. They say folks around his hometown know him well. You have to be interested in the lost to reach the heart of God.

In the OT, blood sacrifice was used for shock value-for men to know how horrific sin really is. The blood of animals could atone for sin but it took Jesus to forgive sin. After Calvary, all things were made new. We read in the Bible how Simeon prophesied that he would not die till he saw the Christ-child and he actually held Him and blessed Him. John the Baptist fortold His birth, Jesus was Job's Redeemer, He was Abraham's promise, He was Isaiah's prophecy, the thief on the cross died beside Him. And right there is where Satan believed he'd stopped the PLAN-but when Christ descended to the lower parts of the earth, imagine what Satan thought when one of his demons told him someone is here to take the keys of hell and death!!! Would you just love to have seen that snake, that old serpent? Revelation 1:18, "I AM HE that liveth, and was dead; and , behold, I AM ALIVE for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death." Jesus crossed the gulf, that great gulf. He appeared to many on earth then Jesus ascended up to Heaven, taking those saints with Him and they are in Heaven.

One point Bro. Butler made was that when the priests were making atonement for the sins of the people, there was no chair in the Holy of Holies, because he was constantly walking, active. But when Jesus made the supreme sacrifice, He sat down at the right hand of the Father. One sacrifice for all time.

Prayer is still needed

We have to continue to pray for Harold Sandlin. He has been put back in ICU and back on the trac. The doctors said he was one of the strongest men they'd ever seen to have gone through all he has endured and still hanging in there. They told them that he would be kept at the hospital until he is better and he WILL get better!!! AMEN! Keep PRAYING!!!! And do remember the family. One of my aunts, Shirley, (Harold's sister) has been there soooo long trying to help out and she is exhausted, not to mention his wife Eloise whose own health is not the best. They are all so very weary, this has been such a tough time for everyone.

Maybe you remember the last time Neal testified at church about his dad, he told us that soon Harold would be well and be standing up there before the crowd praising the Lord for seeing him through this battle.

"All weapons of war are useless unless God gives the victory. Faith in the Lord is stronger than thousands of armies!!"

Another one of our sweet ladies, Ms. Rosa, has been in and is now out of the hospital. I am sorry I didn't even know about it.

Let's all be thinking of Jerri Scott's sister and all her family. She passed away last week, but as you all know it takes a long time to recover from a death.

Drama

Do you ever stop to realize that we have the freedom to obey God? In Acts, Peter was in prison and the Bible tells us, Peter was ASLEEP between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the keepers before the door kept the prison, but the church prayed without ceasing. They were sacrificing, fasting, sincerely and earnestly in prayer, stretched out on their faces praying for the man of God. You know the story, the angel of the Lord came and a light shined and the chains fell off Peter. He had the freedom to get up and go. He thought he was still dreaming, but when he got to the gate, it opened on its own. He had the choice to walk on through the gate. Miraculous!! When he appeared at the door of the prayer meeting, it took some persuasion for them to believe it truly was Peter!!! They did make the choice to believe it was him. Even tho' they'd just been praying for this very miracle. Isn't that like us today? We pray, and when it happens, we can't believe it. We have that Freedom.

This goes to show how we ought not give up on our needs and requests we bring before the Lord.

At the end of the Sunday night service, the young folks performed a drama and it was powerful!!! The music was "When I Call on Jesus, All Things are Possible"

That's a good lesson for us all.

Signs of the Times

On Wednesday nights, we have Bible study and it is very helpful to us all. The topic has been on 'signs following believers'. You have to be a believer to cast out demons. The Bible speaks of types of devils-and signs of demonic possession. Legion. Lunatic. Vexation of spirit. A truly blood-bought, born again Christian, a child of Almighty God, cannot be demon-possessed, but can be opressed. When we pray, we are saturated in the Holy Spirit. He is dwelling within us. The Word tells us that 'they that hunger after righteousness will be filled'. Oh, that we would stay hungry and thirsty for the wondrous things of the Lord!!! That should be the prayer of each of us in the body of Christ.

We want everyone to come and fellowship with us in the mid-week service (which is VERY casual, I don't see how much more casual it could be) Maybe that's why it is such a comfortable time.
