Update on Services

Everyone knows about the storms of April 27, 2011, so due to that, our church will not be having regular preaching service Sunday night. Pastor Dewayne Smith is needed in many places just now, especially since the COGOP in Hackleburg was wiped out: the original building from the 1920's, the Parsonage, and the new church building which was only 2 years old.

Several of our members went to help Bro Smith and his girls Saturday with cleanup and setup of a tent so that the congregation could be ready to worship Sunday morning!! While the buildings may have suffered total loss, we need to remember the message in tongues given to the church by Sister Jan Goodwin and interpreted by Sister Joan Smith: "We need to always seek our Lord Jesus Christ and Him only and not have our goal set on building a church where we come to gather and worship".

Personally, this was brought home to me when I stood in the sanctuary of the destroyed church in Hackleburg, before the altar, and standing under a beautiful blue sky where only last week there was a roof overhead. Our focus in life should be living for Jesus, for by living for Him and loving the Father, we can have the only hope in this broken world.

Remember, the church, the REAL church, is alive and well! It's alive, as He is alive, and we can rejoice in knowing our God lives!!

Heaven has gained a spiritual warrior!

Our beloved church member and friend, Danny Joe Seals, has gone on from this life to be in Heaven with his Lord. Danny Joe was a friend, father, and brother in Christ. He had joined this body in March, along with some of his family. We miss him now and will always have a special place for him in the church. Danny Joe gave several testimonies about the way Jesus had come in and changed his life, given him a new life! Can't you just see the Lord saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". I was reading some of his posts on his Facebook page where he talked about how the loved God and his kids....things like "the kids r in...good wkn" on April 8, and "There's room at the Cross for u, there's room at the Cross for u, tho millions have come, there's still room for one, there's room at the Cross for you" on April 6. Back in late March Danny Joe wrote, "All ye who labor and are heavy laden, come unto me and I will give you rest". And of course, you got the idea he was a real big Alabama Crimson Tide fan too! Bro Smith will be preaching the funeral. The arrangements are, the viewing, Thursday from 3-5pm and the funeral is at 5pm held at the New Life Fellowship.
