Everyone knows about the storms of April 27, 2011, so due to that, our church will not be having regular preaching service Sunday night. Pastor Dewayne Smith is needed in many places just now, especially since the COGOP in Hackleburg was wiped out: the original building from the 1920's, the Parsonage, and the new church building which was only 2 years old.
Several of our members went to help Bro Smith and his girls Saturday with cleanup and setup of a tent so that the congregation could be ready to worship Sunday morning!! While the buildings may have suffered total loss, we need to remember the message in tongues given to the church by Sister Jan Goodwin and interpreted by Sister Joan Smith: "We need to always seek our Lord Jesus Christ and Him only and not have our goal set on building a church where we come to gather and worship".
Personally, this was brought home to me when I stood in the sanctuary of the destroyed church in Hackleburg, before the altar, and standing under a beautiful blue sky where only last week there was a roof overhead. Our focus in life should be living for Jesus, for by living for Him and loving the Father, we can have the only hope in this broken world.
Remember, the church, the REAL church, is alive and well! It's alive, as He is alive, and we can rejoice in knowing our God lives!!
