Worship with the Firstfruits

When we take Tithes and Offerings each Sunday morning, we have a little routine that we use to honor the Lord with our offerings. Each person holds up their check, money or tithe envelope and repeats this short saying:

"Jesus, as my Lord and High Priest, I bring the firstfruits of my income to You and worship the Lord my God with it. I rejoice in all the good which You have given to me and my household.
I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord my God and have done according to all that He has commanded me. Now look down from Your Holy habitation from Heaven and bless me as you said in Your Word. I thank Father, in Jesus' name."

This is just a bit different than many churches' form of worship with offerings, but we know God's Word is true and we strive to hear and obey His leadership. The scripture most Christians refer to when they speak of tithing is Malachi 3:10. "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." He goes on to say in verse 11 that the Lord will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and not destroy the fruits of your ground.

Personally, my husband and I take the Lord at His Word and we prove Him~over and over again. So many people will testify to the same thing. God is faithful and is our deliverer and our source!! Praise the Lord, and again, Praise the Lord!

Pictures

Bro. Chris was the instigator of this little game. The team leader had to bid on how many marshmallows they could stuff in their mouth and still sing a Praise/Worship song--and still their team members could guess the name of the song. Here is our sweet Sarah, looking her best, along with Austin Scott.

Dakota Smith couldn't fit too many--wait, did he say 13???

Here is Emily and Zoe performing a drama, "You are Mighty, You are Holy". Great job, girls!!!

Some of the latest happenings here at WCFC

We have the BEST church members ever!

Here at Winfield City Family Church, we are blessed to have some of the most able people who do not hesitate to step up where there is a need. For instance, if you notice how clean the church is every week, please thank Margi and Allen Edge. They go each and every Tuesday and clean the building top to bottom. Many times, we have had to organize a "clean-up" day and get everyone to work together to scrub and sweep and vacuum and dust cobwebs, and what a major job that is! Thank you Allen and Margi for all you do and all you mean to the church family. We love you guys!

Debra Banta has stepped up to teach Adult Sunday School class while Todd Scott takes a little break. Both of them are great teachers of the Gospel.

Danny Joe Seals has been playing bass on the Praise and Worship Team and we are so blessed to have him and his family at WCFC. In fact, there are quite a few talented musicians that are to be recognized: Randy Smith, Danny Joe Seals, Joan Smith, Mike Knight, Dewayne Smith, Josh Smith, Todd Scott, Austin Scott, Chris Bell, Debra Banta, and Ronnie Beasley. Emily and Zoe Smith performed a drama to "You are Mighty, You are Holy" last week, and it was a great job, girls! God be praised for the talent He has directed to this church.

Chris and Sarah Bell have joined in working as the Youth Pastors. The boys' class has been taught well by Mike Knight and Neal Sandlin, but it really frees up some extra time for them to serve in other ways, since Chris began the Youth Ministry. Last Sunday night while Bro. Smith was away for a funeral, Bro. Chris took over the service. It was unforgettable, to say the least. Fun for all who took part. The game was to see which team leader could hold the most marshmallows in their mouth and sing a praise/worship song. Their team members had to guess what song they were singing. The pictures are unbelievable!

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders, as told by one of our precious members...

November 13, 2010

Some years ago I had fallen very ill. The doctors could not find what was causing the problems. I would throw up profusely, my blood had dropped till I was anemic and I was unable to swallow food at all. This continued for approximately two, almost three months. My swallowing finally shut off completely. I wasn't even able to swallow water. I was admitted into the hospital in Silvis, Illinois.

My pastor, Vurl Lietdke and the church in Silvis, IL had been praying and believing God for my healing. The first day I was in the hospital, some of the church people gathered around my hospital bed and began to pray. I felt the power of God so wonderfully that I knew He had healed me.

The doctor ordered a number of tests to see what my problems were. I had become very malnourished and had numerous other issues. One of the major issues was a huge hiatal hernia. In just a few hours the doctor came into my room and told me I needed emergency surgery. I proceeded to tell him no, because God had healed me. At this point the doctor told the nurse to bring me a mirror. When I looked into the mirror I had turned green. My face, all my skin had turned a bright green. The doctor told me that I had a diseased gall bladder with several stones and it had already set up gangrene and that the hernia had closed off my esophagus.

They immediately moved me to the surgical ward. I began to weep and call upon God. I knew God had healed me and I couldn't understand what was going on.

When I got to the room on the surgical floor I found myself alone for the first time. I looked to the night stand beside the bed and there laid a Bible. I picked it up and the pages fell open to: Matthew 21:5. "Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee." No sooner had I read the words on the page, I felt the power of God fill that hospital room! The Glory of the Lord was all around, surely it must have been shining even in the hallway. I had such peace come upon me, I knew there was nothing to worry about any more. The Lord had touched me!

As I lay there in that hospital bed the night before surgery, I had a visitor. This man walked into my room and to the side of the bed. I thought possibly this was the hospital Chaplin, as they usually visit the patients scheduled for surgery. The man stood beside my bed with a pleasant look on his face. He was a very good looking man. He had beautiful black hair, which was so perfectly groomed and in place. He wore a very stylish, expensive looking suit. He had a beautiful complexion. I greeted him and then he began to speak. To my amazement, with every word he spoke, his face became twisted and distorted. He said, "Now where is your GOD!?!? You said you were healed! But He has left you here and does NOT hear you!! You are not healed! You're going to DIE!!!"

I knew immediately who this was. It was a devil from Hell!!! I raised my hand to God and began to speak to him. I said, "I know who you are and you have come too late!! My Lord has come unto me and He has already done the work!" I began to quote scriptures that I didn't realize I knew! Then with every scripture I quoted, a portion of this man's face began to disappear right before my very eyes! He completely disappeared and I felt that wonderful Presence of God once again. Glory to God, He was there!! My King had come to me and He was still there!

I was so excited I wanted to tell someone about this visitation of the Spirit so bad, but no one came till they were preparing me for surgery. The Pastor, my husband Bob, and various members of the family and church family were present as they were taking me down the hall to the surgical room. I was trying to shout to them that the Lord had been there and He was in control! The Pastor told those present, "Oh, God has done something for her!"

After the surgery, the operating doctor came out to talk with the family. He said she had 33 gall stones, so we took the gall bladder and she is doing fine. He then turned to leave and the Pastor stopped him and asked, "What about the huge hiatal hernia?" The doctor stopped and looked at her with amazement on his face. "We hadn't wanted to operate on that because it was so close to her heart, I was afraid she would not live through it. But this is the amazing thing, I had the X-Ray hanging on the wall showing this huge hernia, but when I went in there to try to repair it, there was nothing left but a small scar where it had been. Something beat me to it." Oh, that was Pastor Liedtks cue: she began to tell him about God's healing power. She shared with him the scriptures on healing. We found out later that same doctor was terminally ill with cancer.

We may wonder sometimes why things happen as they do. We must remind ourselves of this: Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose." I love Him with all my heart.

If my going through that touched one soul it was worth it. I know that it was worth what God did for me through it. Praise HIS HOLY NAME!

Sister Debra J. Banta

PS. I had 33 gall stones, I was in room 33, and I was 33 years old. Jesus was 33 when He was crucified. The devil told me I was going to die, but Jesus was crucified that I might have life and that more abundantly. John 10:10 "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

And then HE rose again! All Glory to God!

Powerful Passage

1 Peter 1:1-9 is a powerful passage. We know none of us is without pain, struggles and trials. Sometimes we even have to force-feed ourselves when we get down and hurt. Make yourself worship if you don't feel like it. Open your mouth and speak the Word, then your heart gets into it. "Faith that can't be tested can't be trusted." Christianity is not always a bed of roses. We need to pay attention, focus on the Lord, and get involved in the scriptures. Satan WILL come to you with his wicked devices, but God wants to set us free.

We have to apply the Word to our lives and be consistent, because there are so many attractions in the world to compete with the things of God. Right now, we are reaping the generation of unchurched youth. Many people try to run from their troubles, but the greater One lives within us. Verse 6 tells us that our faith will be tested, but we can stand our ground and be stable. These temptations and troubles are not a 'forever thing'. It is for a season and one day the sun will shine again. Be patient with God and He will bring about a better, brighter day in your life. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!

In verse 16, He tells us "Be ye holy, for I am holy." Once you come to the knowledge of sin, you aren't ignorant anymore. The word holy means "pure, morally blameless". We don't have the ability to be holy on our own-we must have a holy God living in us and helping us stay separate from the world.

Proverbs 4:20-22 teaches us that our Father's words are life and health. John 6:63 says the words are spirit and life. They bring us to awareness and understanding of the Lord. It's important to read these words out loud-that way, they are put into the atmosphere and they enter the heart and the spirit. Satan hates that the spirit of God is in us. He HATES that! But he can't stop it. Jesus defeated death, and it is vital that we recognize that the Greater One dwells in us.

Read the Word. Meditate on the Word. Replace the things of the world with the Word. Read and pray for revelation so that we can then give it to others-it's not to be kept to ourselves.

Announcements

It seems that for a small church, we have alot of announcements each week-that means there's alot going on, and that is a good sign of life! Youth Pastors Chris and Sarah Bell told us the Youth will be hosting a Sunday Dinner after Thanksgiving! It will be the 28th. Many of the ladies have volunteered to help with the cooking (Chris said if we didn't, we could expect a phone call). That's an incentive to pitch in!

What great news!! Our own Pastor has been asked to preach at the Annual Community-wide Thanksgiving Service at the First Methodist Church in Winfield!! It will be on the 21st of November at 6pm. and we need to have a big turnout to show our support for not only Bro. Dewayne, but also to represent our church.

Another bit of news is that the recent picture of the congregation made in front of the church has made the cover of the COGOP publication, Alabama Update. Hopefully, soon we can get the link on the blog. Bro. Sam Clements, Overseer of North Alabama said that the brochure will be seen all over the world! We need to keep in mind that any attention that comes our way should be only directed toward our Lord and Savior, for it is in His great name that we do what we do.

This is the first Sunday since we lost Brandi Scott. Her precious family is here and we love you, Jerri, Mildred, Todd and Molly.

Bro. John Billy Butler, Area Overseer, challenged his own church and they presented us with another gift of $1,000.00 to be used to pay on the land we have purchased! Praise the Lord for God's people who support and desire to see this church take root and grow!

Brandi~We Love You!!

Here are the arrangements:

Brandi Nicole Scott, 29, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Northwest Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 2, at 2pm at the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial will be at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetary, and visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon till 2pm.

Our beloved Brandi has left us and she will be so very missed. Everyone loved her sweet smile and her caring attitude for other people. Her family has been involved in the Winfield City Family Church from the very start. Mom Jerri, Aunt Mildred, Brother Todd, Uncle Marc and Aunt Betty McDonald, Neice Molly, they are our family too. Everyone who knows this family loves them, and grieve the loss of Brandi.

The Scott family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed sympathy-whether it is food, phone calls, visits, cards, flowers, it is truly appreciated. Please continue to pray for all of them and for the church-that is the most important thing you can do for another-to pray.
God bless you all, and we will always miss and love you, Brandi.
