A great big "thank you" to everybody who pitched in and helped make Saturday a huge success. The Angel Food delivery went well and there were alot of little Girl Scouts and their troop leaders who are so special to the church when they come to help. Carol is already preparing for next month's menu and orders, and since they will be away, the rest of us will have to try to fill her shoes while she and Rick enjoy a little vacation time. Several of the "Sisters of the Heart" who belong to another church came out to support the work here. What a precious bunch of women! We are looking into doing more in the way of volunteer sewing, and one of the Scout leaders said she could help us get involved with one of the big hospitals in Birmingham. Please pray that the Lord will open doors for this outreach effort.
The Bake Sale was a great fund-raiser, making over $130 and every cake, pie and cookie crumb was purchased and devoured!!! What good cooks we have who are willing to provide the sweets and then bring them to the sale. Saturday's weather was excellent also, thankfully. This money is going toward the Youth Ministries.
Sunday night we called off the night service and filled the church van to go to the First Nazarene Church in Jasper for their annual Easter Drama. It was awesome. You really missed a blessing if you missed this one. Ronnie Cockrell's sister, Pat Waldo and her granddaughter, Amanda, were in the choir. Ronnie drove the van and we had 12 who went. Pat is one of the "Sisters of the Heart" and she has been teaching us to crochet.
Next Sunday is Easter and the church is planning a dinner after the service. Please come and bring as many people as you can get to be here for that. Remember to bring eggs-boiled eggs or the plastic ones-there will be an Easter Egg Hunt with some neat prizes and surprizes.
Sounds exciting for all the "young at heart".
