Brother Dewayne & I were invited by Pastor Luther Rye to be in service with the Haleyville church for their mortgage burning Saturday night June 20. Many hours of prayer & labor had prepared this day. All rejoiced in the great thing God has done for the local church at Haleyville, now with a million dollar facility paid off in Jesus name!!! Hallelujah!!!

Pentecost Sunday

Brother Smith will be in Youth Camp this week. Pray that hundreds of kids will be saved and filled with the Spirit. Contact Bro. Dewayne if you need info (dates and ages.)

There will be a March/Rally in Montgomery for the rights of the unborn Saturday June 13th. See Marcus and Betty McDonald for details, and where to meet to attend this rally.

WCFC had a great song service Sunday with a message in tongues. Today is Pentecost Sunday, the only Feast that you have to count the number of days after Easter (50 days) to know when it will be. Read Acts 2. We don't need to be afraid of Pentecost-we need these truths.

"When the Presence of God is in the church, it will draw the world in, but if it's not in the church, the world will draw the church into the world." Food for thought, don't you thing?

We see some parallels between Passover and Pentecost:

Passover was represented by: wood, lamb, blood When the Death Angel saw the blood on the doors, he would pass over that house and spare the firstborn.
Pentecost was represented by: wood-the cross, the Lamb of God, Jesus, and the Blood of Christ

Passover was a symbol, but now we have the REAL thing! Praise the Lord!!

Be Filled with the Spirit

Bro. Todd always presents our SS Lesson in such a way even I can understand it. This past Sunday morning the lesson was about how we need the Holy Spirit for boldness and comfort. In Numbers 11:14 Moses needed help. "I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me." Sound familiar?

Tho' we are not called on to undertake the massive task God had prepared for Moses, we still need the help of our loving Father. Everyday. EVERYDAY. When the Spirit came on the people of old, they would testify. Just as the Lord gathered seventy men of the elders to be a help to Moses, He appoints others to be a help to us, and also, allows us to help others in this life. What a priviledge and blessing to be used of the Lord!

We feel we are in the valley when we stand in need of a miracle many times. A man in class Sunday morning pointed out that ONLY when we are in the valley, can we see an aspect of the love and care of Jesus as the Lily of the Valley, and as written in Psalms 23, our Shepherd, "He leads me beside the still waters...". Where else in life could we be to experience Jesus as such a Friend? God help us all to remember that the Lord is our Rock, our Salvation, our Help in time of trouble, our Confidence, our Hiding Place, our Strength, our Defense, our Refuge, our Comforter, our Trust, our Shield, our Merciful and Loving Father, our Peace and our Joy! When the storms come, and they will, it is good to think of Psalms 34:19. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." We just have to hold onto those promises that 'God doeth all things well'.

The Beat Goes On

What a difference singing adds to any church service. We have heard and learned (well, we are learning) some new praise music. Recently, some of the great hymns we have sung are, "Heaven's Jubilee", "I Have Somebody With Me", "Without Him, How Lost I Would Be". "I'll Fly Away". Deb Banta sang "In My New Home". In '94 the Lord gave her that song. It's true if you know the Master, that you've got more to go to Heaven for than what you've got here on this earth. Oh, that we would be ever mindful of that truth!

We are human and get caught up in the day to day routine of this world, and it slips our minds just what God has in store for us when we live close to Him and remember to simply trust the Lord. I grew up with that old Baptist hymn, "Trust and Obey"-for there IS no other way, to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey. How very true that is. Lord, give us wisdom to listen for your voice above the roar of the world's mad rush. Help us keep tuned in to hear you sweetly whisper to your children. We need You now, more than ever before as we face the turmoil and insanity of a world racing headlong, unconcerned and uncaring, toward the final awful judgment of Almighty God. The Lord is longsuffering and unwilling that any should perish, but we can discern the signs of the times and we must realize we are truly living in the last days. Even secular newscasters say the same thing whether they would ever admit it or not. Time is passing swiftly and precious ones are passing into eternity before our very eyes. Jesus, that You would stir us as never before to desire to be used of the Lord, in whatever way He sees fit. And, when He does use you for His Glory, it's important to remain humble, thankful that you are an instrument for the advancement of the Kingdom. There is no place for pride in the Body of Christ.

Pray for each other this week, pray for our Pastor and family and the love and dedication they have for our church. Remember the sick and the ones who cannot attend church. Pray for the workers in our church. Pray for the soon return of Jesus for His children. Pray for growth and blessings in our local assembly, for outreach ministries. Pray for the lost all around us. Pray for our precious America and that God would touch the hearts and minds of our leaders for a revelation of how our nation needs to turn back to the principles upon which it was founded. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray that God would give us hearts of love.
