Praise the Lord

It looks like the Lord has smiled on Bro. Smith and his family this week!! One blessing was sitting out front of the church on Sunday morning: namely, a church VAN! And at a great price (I am told). Bro. Alan took it home to check it out mechanically, and looks like we have a driver already, Bro. Ronnie. Please pray for this outreach ministry for our church, that many more people will be able to attend services. Awesome!!!

Bro. Smith has been in need of a little extra spending money, and seems the Lord worked on behalf of a member to be the source for this need. God be praised. Not only that, but just recently, our Pastor was out to eat a meal and when they were through, the owner told them that someone had already paid the bill!!! WOW When the Lord puts His mighty hand to bless His children, you can see Him at work, and it is wondrous to behold.

Another blessing and something Bro. Smith has wanted for a long time, is a clear pulpit to preach from, and the Lord moved on a lady to GIVE it to him. He did give us the apprearance that he was a happy man Sunday.

If you have not been coming to church on Sunday nights at 5, you have been missing a blessing. We have great singing and even better preaching. This Sunday, two men gave testimonies that were similar. Bro. Todd told of being in a place of having to make a work decision. He had a prospect of making really, really good money, but would have to first borrow alot of money upfront. He said he'd prayed about this and just couldn't get peace from God to go ahead, so he didn't launch out when it didn't seem right. Turns out, the company offering the work has now closed, so Todd would have been in a really tough position if he had not sought the Lord's direction on this.

Also, Bro. Ronnie has been praying for a long time about his job, long-haul trucking, and has had to stay out for up to three weeks at a time. He had an opportunity to go with another company for better pay and better hours, but like Todd, he would have had to invest and borrow more money to make the change. He continued to pray and seek the Lord's will and finally, the answer came to him in God's time, and it has worked out that he has been able to be home on the weekend so that he could be there to get to church. That was the main prayer request. We are rejoicing with these two men as they praise the Lord for His leadership. God is good-all the time.

We need to keep Jesus first in our lives, in the bad times as well as the good times. God has our best interests in mind regardless of the circumstances. This is easy to say, but something different when things go wrong in our lives. I am reminded of our precious Ms. Rosa, and how she always encouraged others to 'never, ever give up on God, no matter what happens in life, He knows what is best. He is our Strength, our Rock and our Fortress. ' Ms. Rosa told me to just put my trust in the Lord, because bad things do happen to good people. I miss that sweet lady so much, but I know we will see her again. She made the effort to get a very precious book to me personally, when I shared some heartache with her. What a prayer warrior she was and don't you know she is basking in the presence of Jesus? Yes, we will see her and many other loved ones in Heaven soon.

Learning to Lean

How often do we have to stop and realize just how much we depend on the strong arm of the Lord in our lives? It should be every minute of every day. We are like sheep~dumb and unable to even feed ourselves~without the leadership of our Shepherd. God tells us His mercy endures forever. Look up Psalms 136 in your spare time. What a comfort!! We most likely go through each day never even comprehending how we are loved and protected by our Heavenly Father, who has sent His Ministering Angels to watch over His children. How then should we live? Yes, how then should we live?

We have an enemy who delights in dragging us down, using any weapon available. One way is through our past. Satan wants us to stay bound, but Jesus wants us to live each day new. Paul urges us to forget those things that are behind and reach to that which lies ahead. We have the tools, thanks to the finished work of Jesus, to put the past in the past, to forgive ourselves, as He has forgiven us our sins. 2 Cor. 5:17 reads, "...if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature..." Only through Christ can we succeed and defeat the Devil in our lives. Through Him we are worthy, the grace of God makes us worthy~it's all about Jesus!!!!

New Testament Gospel in the Old Testament

If you read Genesis 5, you will perhaps wonder what would make this information, all the geneology so important. Bible scholars have studied the Jewish scriptures and the Hebrew meaning of names. One such man has found a wonderful message hidden away in the Torah. In this chapter, the names' meaning given in the order listed revealed a one-sentence summary of the New Testament Gospel.

ADAM = Man
SETH = appointed
ENOS = mortal (wound, grief, miserable)
CAINAN = sorrow
MAHALALEEL = (but the) Blessed God
JARED = shall come down
ENOCH = teaching (that)
METHUSELAH = his death shall bring
LAMECH = the despairing (world/mankind)
NOAH = comfort or rest

Here it is in one sentence:

Man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the Blessed God shall come down, teaching that His (Jesus's) death shall bring the despairing (world) comfort and rest.

I don't know about you, but this is simply amazing to me and makes me want to learn more about the Bible. To think how God reveals these treasures within His Word, oh, what a Mighty, Awesome God we serve!!!!

Slight Change of Plans?

On August 30, we were expecting the ladies from Teen Challenge, but at the last minute, their escort/leader was unable to attend, so hopefully, we can schedule them a little later on. There might have been drenching rain outside, but there was "Son-Light" here at WCFC with great singing and preaching and a fantastic dinner following. If you missed that day, you missed a blessing! Bro. Dewayne sang "I can't even walk without You holding my hand......down on my knees is where I learned how to stand". Annointed music.

The Message today was on our so-called "drug of choice". It may not necessarily be a drug or cigarette or bottle that is between you and a closer walk with God. 2 Cor. 7:1 tells us to "cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit" At some point, we need to realize our need for Jesus to help us cleanse ourselves, and to live to glorify the Lord.
1- We must CONFESS our sins to Jesus, remembering 1 John 1:9. God is not a liar, and He will keep His Word~you can stake your very life on that promise!

2- We must have FAITH in the Lord to help us with whatever cravings or struggles are facing us in life. 1 John 4:4 "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." Talk to that addiction, that problem, that mountain, that warfare, that impossible situation, THEN you can be an overcomer.

Sunday night service was a good one too. Bro. Todd sang "You're all I want, All I've ever needed." Emily and Mollie sang "Jesus, Lover of my Soul". Bro. Smith sang a song he wrote called "He is God, He moves me still".

The message on Sunday night was how we are to bear fruit as is pleasing to the Lord. Every branch that does not bear fruit is cut out and cast away. We need to take care to 'weed out' our lives with the Word. The Bible can keep us clean and refreshed. Church can be cleansing for each of us, helping to release the bad things that strangle us and keep us from producing good fruit. Without Jesus, we can do nothing and we ARE nothing. It's as simple as that~take out the doubt and fear, replace it with the Word!
